Borders Authority of the Velocity Interoperability Network Established

The Borders Authority of the Velocity Interoperability Network has been formally established. The Authority is responsible for the crossing points at the boundaries of the Network, for the perimeter infrastructure that marks and secures those boundaries, and for coordinating the checks carried out at the boundary by the departments and offices of the Network.

Until today, the boundaries of the Network were kept by member organisations and by the sites themselves, each under its own arrangements. The Authority brings those arrangements under a single register, a single set of opening hours and a single standard of check. Its establishment follows a transition period of four weeks, from 10 August to 5 September 2026, during which the member organisations transferred their boundary functions, staff and records to the Authority.

With its establishment complete, the Authority today launches its official website at borders.gov.vin. The site carries press releases, official statements, the register of crossing points and their hours, guidance on carrying goods across the boundary, the register of boundary sections, current notices and the Authority's first statistical release.
