All news- Borders Authority Publishes Register of Crossing Points and Opening Hours
The eight crossing points at the boundaries of the Network pass to the Authority between Monday 7 and Monday 14 September 2026. The register, with the type, days and hours of each crossing, is published from today.
- Borders Authority Sets Out Arrangements for Carrying Goods Across the Boundary
From 7 September 2026 goods carried across the boundary of the Network fall into three classes: personal goods, which need no declaration; declared goods; and commercial consignments, which are cleared in advance at Westbrook Freight Gate or Southbank Quay.
- Borders Authority Publishes First Statistical Release and Perimeter Works Programme
During the transition period from 10 August to 5 September 2026, 214,600 crossings by persons and 38,200 by goods vehicles were recorded at the boundaries of the Network. The Authority also published its register of boundary sections and a works programme to March 2027.
About the Authority
The Borders Authority of the Velocity Interoperability Network is responsible for the crossing points at the boundaries of the Velocity Interoperability Network, for the perimeter infrastructure that marks and secures those boundaries, and for coordinating the checks carried out there.
It maintains the register of crossing points and their hours, keeps the perimeter in repair, publishes notices on closures and works, and carries out checks on persons and goods on behalf of the departments and offices of the Network so that a traveller is checked once.
